One company you’ve probably never heard of before is GT Advanced Technologies. But we could be learning a lot about the company very soon as Apple looks to incorporate their materials into future releases.
The company provides crystal grow and materials for consumer electronics and recently announced that it has made an agreement with Apple to supply their sapphire materials.
Sapphire is an extremely hard material and is scratch and nick resistant, making it a next gen advancement that could very well see its way into Apple’s pending release of the iPhone 6.
The deal is still young so there isn’t much more to report on at this time, but it will surely be interesting to see what transpires over the course of the next few months.
